The beginning of a weather unit

Sorry I haven't written in a while, I haven't been able to log into the blog...not sure why, but I'm here now.
Well this past week, I started my weather unit.  My kindergarteners were really excited to learn about weather and they were really excited that I was going to be teaching them all the time now.  On the first day, we learned a new weather song and let me tell you, the children LOVE it!

Here is a picture of our weather bulletin board!

My kindergarteners were so excited to start learning about all the different types of weather.  Here they are, with blurred faces of course.  Our first day learning about the weather.  If you are wondering why they are all wearing red, it's because it was wildcat Wednesday.
They just LOVE getting their pictures taken.

On day 1 of the unit, we made our weather wheels so that we could track the weather outside and so that we could track the weather we were learning about for the day!.  Here are a couple pictures of our weather wheels!  We use our weather wheels every morning to check the weather outside.  It is one of my student's favorite parts of our morning now!  Who would have thought a simple weather wheel would be so much fun!
 Coloring it in!
Finished Weather Wheel!

On Friday, we started learning about clouds.  Friday is also our Art day so of course we did a cloud inspired Art project.  We took our inspiration from It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw.  We took our cotton balls, pulled them apart and created our clouds in the sky!  They all looked so cute and they will be hanging in our hall for Fine Arts Night!  Here is a picture of one of my favorite kindergarten clouds.
"I looked up in the sky and thought I saw a cannon, but it was just a cloud in the sky."

Kindergarten has LOTS more fun weather activities planned for the next 2 weeks!  Hopefully I will be able to keep you updated on them all.  This week we are getting excited to do cloud experiments, rainbow art, and begin our very own weather atlases to name a few activities!
